WHAT’S LEFT ?

The Housing Estate. This was built on the demolished school site, and runs along side the Primary school playing fields. The youth centre was demolished along with all the school classrooms, craftrooms, library and playground.

1.

The Assembly Hall . When the Youth Centre was knocked down , the Assembly Hall became its new home, along with the kitchens. The stage is still there , and the floor is neatly polished .

2.

The Gym Hall. The smaller and older of the two sports halls.

3.

The Sports Hall.

4.

The Rosla Block . Surprisingly the Rosla still stands, I thought that would be the first thing to go. The brown panels are now flaking , some windows boarded up others just remain smashed. Access to the Swimming pool underneath the Rosla is blocked by vertical planking. The pool has a foot of black water in the deep end, and a selection of traffic cones , bricks and other discarded rubbish along its length. Actually it looks cleaner now than it did in the early eighties !. The only entrance door is firmly locked and bolted, and the building is now disused. The Rosla , which can be seen from the M11 did reopen shortly and was called “The Elmcroft Centre” - an education centre.

5.

The Tennis court.

6.

Playing Fields. This is now overgrown and looks uncut for a few years. Used by dogwalkers.

7.

The Caretakers House . Completely fenced in and abandoned .The windows are all boarded up and the gardens extremely overgrown. Looks out of place within the grounds.
